Hyderabad: Student kills herself in hostel room
Hyderabad: A 16-year-old first year intermediate student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the hostel of Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Saroor Nagar on Tuesday.
The police identified the deceased as D. Archana, 16, daughter of D. Saidulu, an RTC bus conductor.
Archan went home on Saturday for the weekend and returned on Tuesday morning. She signed on her register at 9 am and by 9.10 am she was in her room, said inspector of Saroornagar S. Lingaiah.
“She told her friend that she will join her in the class in five minutes. After waiting for more than 10 minutes, her friend returned to the room to check on her and found her hanging from the ceiling. By 9:40 am, Archana was shifted to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors,” the official said.
Archana had reportedly told her parents that she did not like staying in the hostel. “We heard from her hostel mates that the dean, identified as Mamata, was harassing Archana and are probing the case. However, we have booked a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC and shifted the body for post mortem examination” the official said.
