Santhosh murder accused arrested
Kottayam: The police on Monday arrested Kammal Vinod, an accused in several criminal cases, and his wife Kunjumol, for allegedly murdering Santhosh, 40, of Payyappady near here. The cops recovered the remains of his body from a roadside paddy field at Manganam, a few kilometres away, on Sunday and the head from a stream near Makroni bridge on Monday. They zeroed in on Vinod after verifying the mobile calls of the victim. The last call received was from Kunjumol, the wife of Vinod.
“The provocation was the liaison he's having with Kunjumol while Vinod was in jail," said DySP Zacharia Mathew. The police investigation found that Kunjumol rang Santhosh and asked him to visit their house. Vinod struck him down when he reached their house at Meenadom. The body was cut into several pieces and disposed of on August 24. They began the investigation from the list of the missing persons. The police arrested the couple on charges of murder and destroying evidence.
