Bengaluru: Man sexually assaults 13-year-old

The incident occurred at the victim's house in Manjunath Nagar.

Bengaluru: Two days after a five-year-old girl died after she was brutally raped by a 33-year-old man, another case of sexual assault on a minor has been reported in the city.

The Basaveshwarnagar police arrested a 36-year-old pervert and booked him under Pocso Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl on Sunday.

The incident occurred at the victim’s house in Manjunath Nagar. The accused Srinivas, who himself is the father of a girl child, works at a photo studio in Gandhinagar near Majestic.

Victim’s parents said in their police complaint that Srinivas, who stays with his family in the same area, came to their house around 1.30 pm on Sunday when the victim, a class seven student, was alone. Srinivas sat watching TV and left after some time, only to come back 10 minutes later. The victim had closed the door from inside and Srinivas knocked on the door. When the girl, who was talking through the window, told Srinivas to come back later, he kissed her on the hand and insisted that she open the door as he wanted to watch TV. The victim eventually obliged.

After entering the house, Srinivas put his hand on the victim’s shoulder and made her sit on the sofa. He then touched her private parts. The victim pushed and slapped him, after which he left home, the victim’s mother said.

The mother came back home around 3 pm and found her scared daughter standing outside the house.

When she asked the girl repeatedly, the victim narrated the incident to her mother. Immediately, the victim’s mother and father approached the Basaveshwaranagar police station and lodged the complaint.

Srinivas, who is from Bangarpet in Kolar district, was arrested on Monday. His wife and daughter had gone to their hometown to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.

The victim’s mother told the police that Srinivas had molested their daughter a year ago at their house when she was in sixth standard. But she did not reveal it to her parents as she was scared.
