Two die in separate road accidents in Karnataka
BENGALURU: Two people, including a 55-year-old labourer, died in two separate accidents in Madiwala police station limits since Wednesday evening. In the first incident a private bus knocked down an unidentified pedestrian near Upper Ramp of Silk Board in Madiwala traffic police limits.
Police said that the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident happened around 1.30 am when the victim, aged around 45 years, was walking towards Roopena Agrahara.
He got run over by a private bus (KA51 1449). Passersby nabbed the driver, identified as Harish, and the police was alerted. They reached the spot and seized the vehicle. Madiwala police have registered a case.
In the second accident, a 55-year-old labourer died while two others, including a woman, were injured when they got knocked down by a motorcycle at Garvebhavipalya Elevated Flyover in Madiwala traffic police limits on Thursday noon. Both the rider and the pillion rider sustained injuries in the accident and were hospitalised.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sri Gangaiah, while the injured are Lakshmi (20) and Ramesh (26), both hailing from Andhra Pradesh. They all are said to be contract labourers while the rider and the pillion have been identified as Sunil and Manoj, both from Attibele in Anekal.
Police said the accident took place around 12.45 pm while the three were doing cleaning work on the road. The rider lost control over the bike and knocked them down. Passerby who rushed to their rescue informed the police who shifted all the injured to Sparsh Hospital.
While Sri Gangaiah succumbed to injuries around 3.30 pm, Lakshmi and Ramesh along with Sunil and Manoj are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“We are yet to ascertain as to how the accident took place and it is yet to be established as to who was riding the bike. Once they are in a condition to give the statement, police will carry out the investigation,” said an officer. Madiwala traffic police have registered a case.
