Gauri Lankesh murder case: Dada, the gun provider, traced?
BENGALURU: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), claimed to have tracked down the mobile location, of one of the three unidentified suspects, involved in the murder of the activist journalist Gauri Lankesh murder probe. However, none of the officials when approached confirmed the news. According to a source in SIT, a call was intercepted by the SIT team made by the suspect identified as Nihal alias Dada, on Whatsapp on Wednesday afternoon. "When the call was traced, the team learnt that the location was Madgaon in Goa. The SIT team in Maharashtra was immediately alerted about the development," said the source.
Four teams from Bengaluru's Special Investigation Team (SIT), left for Goa on Wednesday night.
A source told DC, “The suspect is constantly changing his location. Four teams have been sent from Bengaluru. Meanwhile a team from Maharashtra SIT has reached the location and trying to trace him.” According to SIT, Dada had allegedly handed over the weapon to Parshuram Waghmore to kill Gauri Lankesh. Nihal alias Dada said to have been a follower of Hindutva and operated in Goa and Maharashtra. An official said Dada was among the three unidentified handlers who had masterminded the murder.
The SIT had been in search of the three men since the arrest of Waghmore on June 11. Despite the massive manhunt SIT is yet to trace the weapon which was used to kill the journalist. Meanwhile, counsel N.P Amrutesh, representing Amol Kale, Amit Degveker, Manohar Edave and Sujith Kumar, arrested in connection with the murder case, rubbished the reports about the suspected shooter, Waghmore appearing before the court on Wednesday and denying his role in the murder.
