Bengaluru: Jilted lover gives supari to threaten woman, arrested
Bengaluru: A jilted lover, who gave supari (contract) to his associates to intimidate the girl, and two others have been arrested by the Cottonpet police, after the 27-year-old woman was recently stabbed.
The accused have been identified as Pramod, 32, a resident of Bommanahalli, who runs a textile outlet, and his associates Kumar, 27 and Suresh, 35, both residents of Bangi Colony in Cottonpet.
The incident was reported on June 21 night at the victim’s house on Police Road in Cottonpet. The woman, who is pursuing a course related to airlines in Banasawadi, had gone to the class and returned home around 9.15 pm.
While she was parking her vehicle, she noticed an unknown person lurking near her house. When she asked him whom he was, the unknown person suddenly attacked her with a knife. He stabbed her thrice in her lower back and when people gathered on hearing her screams, the assailant escaped.
She was shifted to a nearby hospital and was discharged after the treatment.
“In her complaint, she stated that she was getting phone calls and obscene messages from a particular number and the unknown caller was pestering her to love him. Based on evidences and clues obtained, the three accused were arrested. The accused, Pramod, claims that he was in a relationship with the woman for the past eight years. About a year back, the relationship got strained and they parted ways. He wanted to get back to her, but she turned down his request. Thus, he had paid Kumar to harass her and the latter used to call her and abuse her in filthy language. He also used to send obscene messages to her,” the police said.
“About two days prior to the incident, Pramod had paid Rs 1.10 lakh to Kumar and told him to physically threaten and intimidate the woman. Kumar, in turn, had paid Rs 50,000 to another person and told him to threaten her. The person, who received the money from Kumar, not only threatened her but also attempted to kill her. He is still absconding and efforts are on nab him,” DCP (West) M.N. Anucheth said.
