Bengaluru: Realtor hacked to death in Kengeri Satellite Town

Passersby informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Bengaluru: A 50-year-old real estate agent was hacked to death by three to four unidentified persons in Kengeri Satellite Town on Monday night. The deceased, Marahanumaiah, is a resident of Kengeri, used to facilitate real estate deals and get commissions from buyers and sellers. He also owned two to three yellow board vehicles, attached to a transport agency.

According to the police, on Monday around 9.30 pm while Marahanumaiah was standing with his friends near a tea-shop next to a Shell petrol bunk near Sheshadripuram college, three to four men came on bikes, armed with lethal weapons, and started assaulting him. The victim suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot.

Passersby informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem and handed over to his family members on Tuesday. The police verified the CCTV footage from the petrol bunk and nearby commercial establishments, but the footage from camera at the petrol bunk was not clear and not providing the cops clear clues, said an investigating officer.

Marahanumiah has no cases on him in Kengeri police jurisdiction, but we are verifying if he has cases on him at other police stations, the officer added. Investigating officials hint at a possible professional rivalry as Marahanumaiah had reportedly quarrelled with other realtors over deal closure recently.
