SBI ATM robbed in Anakapalle town, ₹15 lakh missing

VISAKHAPATNAM: Burglars broke open the ATM of SBI on Pudimadaka Road in Anakapalle town and stole ₹15 lakh cash from the machine.

Police say the incident took place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. According to a senior police officer, burglars used gas cutters to open the currency chest of the ATM before taking away the cash.

Locals found shutters of the ATM closed on Sunday morning and suspected it is not working. On a complaint by customers, bank officials in Anakapalle reached the spot. They found the ATM broken and cash missing. They immediately informed the police.

Clues Team has visited the ATM. The CCTV footage from various locations in the town is being examined to identify the accused.

Police suspect the burglars might be belonging to an inter-state gang.
