Chennai: A woman was set ablaze by her live-in-partner at Korattur on Monday night. She passed away at Government Kilpauk Hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday. Police arrested Soundararajan (42) a resident of at Bajanai Koil Street, Padi.
The deceased was identified as Devi (39). Police said the duo were already married to other people and left them to live together. Soundararajan worked as a land broker and was an alcoholic. For the past days, he had been suspecting Devi of infidelity. Meanwhile, on Monday night he came home in an inebriated condition and poured kerosene on Devi and set her on fire. Neighbours who heard her cries rushed Devi to Government Kilpauk Hospital. However, she passed away on Tuesday morning. A case has been registered and Soundararajan has been arrested.
