Secunderabad Railway Police nab woman, recover 9 tola gold

She operated mainly along the Secunderabad-Nanded route and targeted passenger trains.

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Railway Police on Monday nabbed a woman from Nanded district in Maharashtra, who was involved in committing offences in moving trains and railway stations.

Gold jewellery weighing 9 tola worth Rs 2.70 lakh was recovered from her possession. The woman has been identified as Zakeera Begum, a 39-year-old.
She was earlier arrested in Kacheguda, Secunderabad, Nanded, Parbhani and Kotwani.

Zakeera was a habitual offender. She operated mainly along the Secunderabad-Nanded route and targeted passenger trains. Targetting passenger in crowded in trains and railway stations, especially while moving on escalators at Secunderabad railway station was her modus operandi.

Superintendent of police Secunderabad railway G. Ashok Kumar said Zakeera was caught by special teams combining Railway Police and Railway Protection Force.

“While she was moving near the parcel gate on Platform 1 of Secunderabad railway station, our teams nabbed her. She confessed to having committed five offences,” said Mr Ashok Kumar. She was arrested and sent to remand on Monday.
