Tamil Nadu: 7-year-old dies on her birthday in mishap
Chennai: Two persons died in separate road accidents near Kancheepuram on Sunday, including a 7-year-old girl who got killed on her birthday in Siva Kanchi in Kancheepuram district, about 80 km from the city. The victim, R.Priyadarshini, was riding pillion on a scooter with her mother when she met with the accident, police said.
Priyadarshini was living with her parents Rajini (40) and Kavitha (32) and her younger brother at Kamaraj Nagar in Kancheepuram. Sunday being her birthday, Priyadarshini set off to meet her relatives in neighbouring areas after celebrations in her home.
Kavitha was riding the scooter and her two children were riding pillion. Around 11 am, they were moving along Kammavar street near the market area when Kavitha reportedly lost her balance, police said. The trio was thrown to the ground in the impact.
While Kavitha and her son fell to their left, Priyadarshini fell to the right, police added.
“A private milk van which was trailing the scooter ran over the little girl killing her on the spot,” according to a police official. Kavitha and her son escaped with minor injuries.

A.Satish of Pookadai Chathiram was on his way to his shop when the accident took place.
He had swerved his bike to avoid hitting a stray dog. A government bus plying between Kancheepuram and Paranthur, which was tailing the vehicle, hit the bike and Satish came under the rear wheels of the bus, police said.
