Kerala: Techie held for dad's murder
ALAPPUZHA: Police took Sherin John, 36, a software engineer at Technopark into custody for allegedly killing his father. Earlier, the cops had launched a manhunt after the NRI father and his son went missing from Chengannur. Sub-inspector Rajesh said Joy V. John, 69, of Uzhathil, Vazharmangalam near Chengannur was living in the US for the past three decades while his son John reached his ancestral house a week ago and was living with him.
The local people alerted the police on Saturday morning as they grew suspicious. Following a search, bloodstains were found in a warehouse owned by Sherin in Chengannur town. Forensic experts collected the details, but had no evidence to confirm murder. Sherin had long back returned from the US.
“We are examining bloodstains and burnt garments found in the warehouse. We are collecting statements from his friends and relatives to get to know whether there had been enmity between them,” he said. Meanwhile, Sherin reportedly had called up his mother in the US saying his father was killed, and it was “an error of hand.”
