Hanamkonda: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old youth in a classroom in the government school at Kanaparthy of Kamalapur mandal in Huzurabad constituency of Hanamkonda district, late in the evening on Thursday.
Police said that the youth was an acquaintance of he victim.
Locals said that the girl had called the youth to the school. He turned up with four friends, who stood guard outside. When she did not return in time, the girl's father went in search of her to the school, and the four youths ran away on seeing him.
Upon finding the girl, he lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case and nabbed the youth including his four friends.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Srinivas speaking to Deccan Chronicle said that rumours had been spread of the gang rape of the girl but that was not correct. The police identified the accused as Srikanth of the same village. The girl was sent to the children's protection home for safety, he informed.
