Hyderabad: Speeding truck mows down two on 2-wheeler

Hyderabad: Two persons who were on their way to the police station to inquire about a missing case registered by them were killed in an accident in Mailardevpally on Friday morning. The incident happened when a speeding truck hit the bike they were riding. The deceased were identified as V. Venkatram Reddy, 45, and K. Rangareddy, 35.

Police said Venkatram Reddy and Rangareddy, both residents of Mailardevpally and neighbours were daily wage labourers.A week ago Venkatram Reddy’s daughter went missing and a case was registered at the Mailardevpally police station.

On Friday morning, the duo were going to the police station to inquire about the status of the case. They crossed Katedan and were proceeding towards Durganagar X Road. “While they were crossing the junction a speeding truck coming in the same direction hit their bike from behind,” Mailardevpally inspector P. Jagadeeshwar said.

The bikers were thrown away. Venkatram Reddy died on the spot as the truck ran over him. Rangareddy suffered serious injuries and died while on way to hospital. Police registered an accidental death case and handed over the bodies to their families after autopsy
