Bengaluru: Man killed soon after release from jail
BENGALURU: A 26-year-old man accused in an attempt to murder case was hacked to death within an hour after he was released from the jail. The murder took place near Basapura Junction on NICE Road in Electronics City police station limits on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Shivaprasad, a resident of Roopena Agrahara near Madivala.
Police said Shivaprasad was arrested by police after he had assaulted one Raja, alias Dung Raja, during the New Year celebrations. He was booked on charges of attempt to murder and was in judicial custody. On Thursday, around 10.30 am, Shivaprasad was released from Parappana Agrahara central prison.
“After getting released on bail he was on his way to his sister’s house in Gottigere with his friend Nagaraj, on a bike. At Basapura Junction on NICE Road, a gang of 6-7 assailants followed them on bikes and waylaid them,” police said. “They attacked Shivaprasad with lethal weapons and hacked him death while Nagaraja managed to escape and alerted the police control room,” police added.
The police suspect that the associates of Raja may have murdered Shivaprasad to avenge the attack on the former. They have detained Nagaraj, the complainant in the case, for questioning. The police suspect Nagraj may have passed on the message about Shivaprasad’s movement to the rival gang. Electronic City police have registered a case.
