Visakhapatnam: Tahsildar lands in ACB net for accepting bribe

Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught red-handed GK Veedhi tahsildar (mandal revenue officer) T. Chiranjeevi Padal and his car driver Pujari Ganeswara Rao when he was accepting Rs 50,000 bribe from a person through his car driver for doing an official favour in his office at GK Veedhi in Vizag Agency on Wednesday.

The accused Padal allegedly demanded the amount from the complainant, G. Ramakrishna Raju of Downuru under Koyyuru mandal in Vizag Agency for issuing a No Objection Certificate for a Black Stone Quarry to an extent of 2.19 hectares in Survey No. 13, located at Ebeulam under GK Veedhi mandal. ACB sleuths trapped the MRO while taking the amount at his office through his car driver. Both Padal and his car driver Rao were taken into custody and they would be produced in the ACB court in Vizag on Thursday said ACB Director-General R.P. Thakur.

In another case, the ACB officials carried out a surprise raids on the Sub-Registrar-Office in Srikakulam and seized Rs 37,520 unaccounted cash from the record room from the 19 document writers. One outsourcing employee R. Naidu said to be collecting the mamools on behalf of the sub-registrar.
