Nellore: A woman admitted to the government area hospital in Kavali gave birth to a dead baby on Wednesday following which, the relatives blamed the medical staff of negligence. According to the kin of the patient, Kavya of Bittragunta, medical officers assured that she will have a normal delivery when she was admitted on Tuesday. However, the woman lost a lot of amniotic fluid (umma neeru) by the evening but the paramedical staff overlooked the matter even when the relatives brought it to their notice.
Late in the night, the relatives alerted the staff when they noticed the head coming out. Nurses on duty performed the delivery as there were no doctors available and declared that the baby was dead much to the shock of Kavya and her relatives. When contacted, hospital superintendent Dr Subba Rao said that the baby had died in the womb itself.
