Telangana: Man, 3 others held for wife's suicide
Hyderabad: Two days after an employee of Atomic Minerals Directorate committed suicide alleging harassment from her husband and in laws, Begumpet police arrested four suspects in the case. Husband S. Shashidhar, a software engineer in Google, his parents and his aunt were charged with dowry death and were produced before a court.
Four of them were sent for judicial remand. Police said three accused relatives of Shashidhar are absconding. Denying the allegations that police ignored the complaint, Begumpet ACP S. Ranga Rao said that police had sent the victim C. Bhagyalakshmi and her husband for three counselling sessions at Bharosa centres. “She later called the counselling centre requesting the closure of the case. She was asked to wait for a week. The same month, she approached the women police station to file a case,” said the ACP.
Bhagyalakshmi’s relatives alleged that the police did not take any action on her complaint, and she was depressed. Besides Shashidhar, police arrested his father Seethala Rajalingam Basker Rao, his mother Seethala Manjula, and aunt Seethala Ramani. Other suspects were identified as his uncles Manoj Shiv Kumar and his sister Sireesha, who are now absconding. The 30-year-old Bagyalakshmi had ended her life on her first marriage anniversary alleging harassment.
