Hyderabad: Man sets lover and her parents on fire
Hyderabad: Upset over his lover avoiding him after a tiff, a labourer set the woman and her parents ablaze before immolating himself at Agganoor in Vikarabad district. The accused, Narasimhulu, 45, and the woman, Anjilamma, 40 succumbed to burns early on Friday, while her parents are admitted to a hospital for treatment.
According to the Parigi police, the incident took place on Thursday night at the village in Yalal mandal. Narsimhulu was married with two kids and having an extra-marital relationship with Anjilamma.
Anjilamma’s husband got to know about her relationship and divorced her. Since then, she had been living with her parents Hanumappa and Chandramma.
The duo was having issues of late, and Anjilamma had been avoiding contact with Narsimhulu. He got upset and picked up a quarrel with her near her house on Thursday night, following which he set her, her parents and himself on fire.
“Narsimhulu, who carried a bottle of petrol with him, first poured the fuel on Anjilamma and immolated her. When Hanumappa and Chandramma tried to rescue her, he also poured some petrol on them and set them ablaze. Within no time, Narsimhulu also immolated himself,” said Tandur Rural inspector D. Jalandhar Reddy.
The locals rescued Chandramma and Hanumappa and shifted them to a hospital in Vikarabad for treatment and alerted the police. Anjilamma suffered about 90 per cent burns and Narsimhulu suffered about 95 per cent burns and both succumbed when being shifted to Gandhi Hospital for better treatment. The victim’s parents are currently under observation.
“Prima facie, it is understood that the accused was upset as the woman was avoiding him. He went to talk to her and raised the issue alleging that she had promised to be with him,” said inspector Jalandhar Reddy. The bodies were shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for autopsy and a case has been registered.
