Wanted criminal held in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: A notorious inter-state robber and contract killer’s hide-and-seek with the cops of various states finally ended on Wednesday when the sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) caught him in the city which he chose as a refuge.
Based on credible information, the CCB sleuths caught the dreaded killer, Deepak alias Teenu, for whom Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi governments were looking for months. Deepak was arrested near the City Railway Station under the Cottonpet police limits.
The police said that there are over 28 cases of murder, dacoity and extortion against Deepak in various states. The accused used to instil fear among the people by showing them murder videos involving him and his gang members. He used the videos to commit robberies and extort money, the police said.
In June this year, he escaped from the Haryana Ambala Central Jail and committed many more crimes after that. Last month, when the Delhi police were about to arrest him, he fired at them and escaped.
A senior police officer said that Deepak has been taken into custody to ascertain whether he has any link in the city. He will be handed over to the Delhi and Punjab police for further investigation.
