Hyderabad: Jeweller grilled for taking Rs 100 crore in old currency

The case has been booked against all the directors of Musaddilal Jewellers Private Limited at Banjara Hills and two other firms.

Hyderabad: Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths on Tuesday grilled Musaddilal Jewellers Private Limited director Kailash Chand Gupta regarding the allegations of selling gold to fictitious customers by taking Rs 100 crore worth old currency on the night of November 8.

The case has been booked against all the directors of Musaddilal Jewellers Private Limited at Banjara Hills and two other firms.

Sources in CCS said two other directors Mr Nitin Gupta and Nikhil Gupta are not available for questioning despite notices served to them.

Kailash Chand Gupta told cops that he doesn’t know much about the whole thing and his sons were dealing with the business on day to day basis. CCS booked case as per the complaint lodged by Income Tax Department which alleged post demonetisation on November 8 within three hours the accused allegedly sold gold worth Rs 100 crore.

Police has frozen the bank accounts where the money has been transferred.
