Chennai: An autorickshaw driver who went missing for over a week, was found dead near Anakaputhur lake, on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Ismail (52), resident of Kasturibai Nagar in Tambaram.
Police said, Ismail was murdered by one Surendran of Guduvanchery and his friend Balaji of Chinnamalai, as Ismail’s son Azharuddin had developed an illicit relationship with Surendran’s wife, Sumathi. Sumathi had eloped with Ismail’s son, Azharuddin, one month back. The next day, Ismail lodged a man missing complaint with the police.
Meanwhile, on November 19, Ismail was also kidnapped and Ismail’s wife lodged a complaint at Tambaram police station.
Surendran and Balaji, on Monday, surrendered before a magistrate court in Saidapet. The magistrate remanded them in judicial custody and informed police about the surrender of the duo. Police later recovered the decomposed body of Ismail from the banks of Anakaputhur lake. Enquiries revealed that after Sumathi eloped with Azharuddin, Surendran decided to take revenge on him. As they could not find Azharuddin they decided to kidnap Ismail to nab his son.
