Hyderabad shooting accused secures pre-arrest bail

Police officials had said they were looking for Mohd Zubair and had opposed the bail plea.

Hyderabad: Even as Cyberabad police was hunting for Mohd Zubair, accused in the King’s Colony firing case a fortnight ago, he secured anticipatory bail from the LB Nagar court on Monday. Police officials had said they were looking for him and had opposed the bail plea. Zubair is alleged to have opened fire at his realtor friend Syed Mustafa on the night of November 11. Zubair had gone absconding, and his family moved court seeking anticipatory bail.

Since then, cops were combing different areas in the city and other areas to trace him in vain. The Hyderabad police cancelled Zubair weapon’s licence and the Cyberabad police had moved a proposal to issue a red corner notice against him at the airports. On Monday, the court after hearing the arguments of Zubair’s counsel and defence counsel granted him a conditional bail.

The court directed him to deposit Rs 50,000 as personal surety and cooperate with the station house officer of Mailardevpally police station, who is the investigating officer of the case. The court directed Zubair not to leave the country. Police suspects that the victim Mustafa may turn hostile, and claim that the incident was the result of a misfire of the weapon in his own hands. Police is planning to appeal the bail in a higher court.
