Hyderabad: Robber cops from Alwal at large with Rs 5 lakh

Police have already arrested all the other suspects.

Hyderabad: The two cops from Alwal police station, who were involved in the dacoity in Bollarum, are still at large with the looted money of Rs 5 lakh. North zone police constables, Mursubavi Sudhakar Reddy and Medar Yadagiri, went absconding after they came to know about the police case. Although criminal charges have been framed against them, they have not been suspended.

Sources from Alwal say that the unholy alliance between cops and journos has been active for a while now and they must have targeted others like traders earlier.

“Both of them are still hiding. They have not shown up for duty after the case was booked against them,” said inspector S. Maheswar of Bollaram police station.

Meanwhile, local sources say that it is likely that investigation officers are not so keen on arresting the suspects till the duo secure bail. North Zone police have denied this allegations and stated that they are strictly pursuing the case and a manhunt on to nab the suspects.

The gang lead by three regional language TV channel stringers and two police constables had robbed a share broker of Rs 19 lakh pretending to be task force officials at Bollaram on Friday night. The gang had intercepted the victim’s car for a ‘police check’ at Rythu Bazaar and took him to an isolated place before threatening and robbing the cash. Police have already arrested all the other suspects.
