Police nab four, recover stolen gold

Vijayawada: Krishna district police have nabbed four accused, who burgled gold ornaments worth ₹3.87 crore from a mortgage company.

Of the four accused, two are company employees, one the branch head and another taking care of housekeeping.

Krishna district SP Palle Jashua has congratulated police officials and their teams for resolving the gold theft case and nabbing the accused.

The arrested are Reddy Venkata Pavani (29), Revu Durga Prasad (30), Kokkiligadda Naga Babu (22), and Mittagadukula Prashanthi (32).

According to police, a complaint had been lodged on October 16 by officials of Manappuram gold loan company that Pavani, working as head of the branch at Kankipadu village, with the help of housekeeping staff Prashanthi and two others had committed theft from lockers of 951 account holders and fled with the booty.

Police said the accused were caught on Friday at Neppali village in Kankipadu. They have recovered 856 gold packets weighing 7,774.58 grams, ₹10,200 net cash, eight cell phones and a car.
