Woman power: Eves beat up 22-year-old drunk man
Bengaluru: A 22-year-old drunk man received the thrashing of his life from a group of women when he misbehaved with a girl who he claimed to be his lover. He was beaten up in the middle of the road, and the entire drama was recorded on mobile phones by onlookers.
The Byadarahalli police, who have registered a case, said that the accused, Teju, had a crush on Sapna, 18, (name changed to protect the girl’s identity), a garment factory worker, and was pestering her to marry him for the last one week. He used to catch her while she was on her way to factory or going back home from work, and misbehaved with her on.
But Friday was not the same for Teju, who is unemployed. Fully drunk, he went to the factory where Sapna works around 1.30 pm. He proposed to her at the top of his voice and created a nuisance. The factory owner warned him and asked the security guard to throw him out of the factory.
But he did not give up and waited for Sapna at a distance, as he knew she would come out of the factory for lunch. During the break, when she came out and started walking towards her home, Teju followed her on his bike and started misbehaving with her. As he was completely drunk, he fell off the bike. Women passersby who noticed Teju's misbehaviour taught him a lesson that he would remember for his life, the police said.
“He was beaten up black and blue by the women. He was rushed to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment. He is not in a position to talk,” the police said.
Meanwhile, Sapna's parents were informed about the incident but they did not file a complaint. “Initially, they were reluctant to file the complaint and went away. Later we convinced them to file a case,” the police said.
Teju had earlier threatened Sapna that he would throw acid on her face if she refused to marry him. The police are waiting for him to recover to carry out the investigation.
