The police said that the suspects impersonated pension beneficiaries by using fictitious names and addresses.

Hyderabad: The detective department of the Hyderabad police unearthed a Rs 40-crore scam involving Aadhaar details and Aasara pension funds.

Three persons were arrested and were identified as Mohammed Abdul Khader Nakshbandi Aziz, owner of a SBI customer service point, Shaik Shabbir Hussain, a job-seeker, and Mohammed Aslam, a junior assistant with TSSPDCL in Nalgonda district.

The police said that the suspects impersonated pension beneficiaries by using fictitious names and addresses. Using their Aadhaar details, the suspects opened bank accounts at the SBI customer care kiosks and linked the accounts to receive the pension benefits.

The racket came to light after Chavan Dasharath from Falaknuma lodged a complaint, stating that his Aadhaar details are used by some persons used by some persons who have fraudulently claimed his Aasara pension funds.

The police arrested the trio and seized laptops, printer and a biometric machine from them.
