Mysuru: Officers of the special crime branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (Chennai zone), who have registered an FIR on the suicide of DySP, M.K. Ganapathi on the Supreme Court's orders, submitted a copy of it to the Madikeri Principal JMFC Court on Friday.
Welcoming the CBI investigation into the case, the deceased officer's father, M.K. Kushalappa said the family was hoping to get justice now that the agency had registered an FIR. Speaking of his son, he said, "He was a good boy and not a coward. We want to know what caused him to take his life, especially as he had clearly held three persons responsible."
Mr Ganapathi, who was found hanging in his room in the Vinayaka lodge on July 7, 2016, in Madikeri, had earlier given an interview to a local TV channel accusing Minister K J George and two police officers, Pranab Mohanthy and A M Prasad of causing him distress.
Mr Ganapathy's son, Nehal, who had filed a private complaint with the principal judge of the JMFC Court in Madikeri, didn't raise any objection to the B report filed by the CID, which first investigated his death. But the officer's brother, Maachaiah later appealed to the court to implead him , his father, mother and sister in the case and permit them to pursue it.
In response, the JMFC principal judge in April passed an order impleading the dead officer's family in the case, which is pending before him. Meanwhile, the officer's family approached the Supreme Court after the high court dismissed its petition to give the case to the CBI.
