Woman murdered near Potheri railway station identified

Police said they managed to identify the body after the picture of body got widely circulated in number of WhatsApp groups.

Chennai: A day after a body of woman murdered was found near Potheri railway station, police on Wednesday said that it belonged to Munni alias Sabitha, (32), wife of Abbas, from Marathiya Street in Saidapet in Vellore district. Police said she was staying in Chennai and working as housemaid, based on information provided by her relatives in Vellore who received the body after postmortem on Wednesday. The police are yet to locate her place of stay in Chennai and her killers. She used to work in Chennai and go home once in every month, police noted.

It may be noted that gang men inspecting the railway track on early Tuesday found her dead with stab injuries on her body near Potheri railway station. Police said they managed to identify the body after the picture of body got widely circulated in number of WhatsApp groups.

Because of tussle between railway police and Kancheepuram police over jurisdiction of handling a case related to the body of burqa clad woman delayed the process of shifting the mortal remains for more than 4 hours on Tuesday morning.
