Hyderabad: An Ola cab driver, K. Shiva Kumar, 22, was arrested by Rachakonda SHE Team for harassing a woman passenger and was handed over to Vanasthalipuram police for further investigation.
Police said that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the woman booked an Ola share cab from Gowlidoddi to go to Lingampally railway station.
“After the other cab passengers got down, Shiva Kumar kept on staring at the woman and forced her to give her mobile number and misbehaved with her. He diverted the route and took the PVNR Expressway towards Shamshabad. The woman first questioned him and then started shouting. He stopped the cab at Aramghar and got out. She immediately took an autorickshaw and reached her home at Vanasthalipuram,” the police said.
Victim lodged complaint on SHE Team’s WhatsApp
The woman lodged a complaint through SHE Team’s WhatsApp, where she provided the details of the driver, his number, the car's registration number and other information.
The SHE Team took up the case and began the investigation.
The police used the mobile tracking system to locate the driver at his residence in Madhuranagar, B.N. Reddy Nagar, and handed him over to the Vanasthalipuram police for further investigation.
Vanasthalipuram police have registered a case under Sections 354 and 354D of the Indian Penal Code and sent the driver to judicial remand.
