Chennai: Woman techie nabs bike-borne mobile snatchers with public help

Chennai: A week after a woman techie became a victim of a mobile phone snatching incident, she on Monday identified the snatchers and with help of public managed catch the two in Chromepet.

Police said that Anbarasi’s mobile phone was snatched by a bike-borne duo on September 20 when she was walking from GST road to her house Bharathipuram via Radha Nagar.

On Monday night when she was pillion riding a relative’s bike home through Radha Nagar she noticed two men on bike, who had snatched her phone last week.

She raised alarm and asked her relative to follow the snatchers on bike. When she started shouting for help a few other bike riders also started chasing the snatchers. The snatchers finally got stuck in front of closed railway gate at a level crossing and people over powered them and thrashed them. The two were later handed over to the police who identified the two as Sivasanakran,25 from Santhome and Jaffer, 25 of Old Pallavaram.
