She teams nab 106 eve teasers in 10 weeks

HYDERABAD: The Rachakonda She Teams said it had apprehended 106 persons — 41 of them minors — for harassing women and averted four child marriages in the last ten weeks.

The officials booked 82 cases, including 29 FIRs, 36 petty cases and 17 cases which ended in counselling. In one case, a woman who joined her two children for swimming classes was secretly photographed, blackmailed, threatened and raped by the swimming coach, M. Sujith, 23, who later extorted Rs 1 lakh from her.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said the harassers had attended the counselling session at the commissioner's camp office along with their family members.

The juveniles also counselled by a professional psychiatrist. As a part of Operation Muskan-VIII the She Teams, along with Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members, found unauthorised orphanages — Asha Kuteer Boys Home in Shanthinagar, Medipally, Vivekananda Orphan Ashram in Kakatiyanagar, Balaviksash Children’s Home in Kachavanisingaram and Visioning Foundation at Jawaharnagar and rescued more than 50 children who were shifted to recognised government homes.
