Realtors forge papers of assigned Ghatkesar land

The realtors have switched off their phones and are absconding. Police have set up teams to nab the suspects.

Hyderabad: Seven realtors forged documents of a government assigned piece of land in a village at Ghatkesar, made layouts and sold it claiming that they had clearances from the gram panchayat. The landowners realised that they have been cheated after revenue authorities demolished the newly constructed houses.

The victims approached the police and a case was registered against the realtors. Mekala Durga Reddy and his partners A. Venkatesh, B. Srikanth, Ch. Venkat Reddy, Rakesh Reddy, J. Narendar Reddy and R. Venkat Reddy were booked for cheating and criminal breach of trust.

Police said Gunji Sambaiah and eight others purchased land from the accused in the layouts in Saidurganagar of Chowdariguda. The suspects told the victims that the layouts have permissions from the gram panchayat and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and so they started constructing houses. But the construction was stopped by the Medchal collector and revenue officials as the layouts were not regularised under the Layout Regularisation Scheme They also issued notices to the victims thrice in June and in July.

Authorities of the gram panchayat, mandal and collector came with bulldozers and demolished parts of constructed houses, but when the victims requested, the officials left, police said. The suspects switched off their phones and went absconding. Realising that they had been cheated, the victims lodged a complaint with the police.
