Chennai: The city police have arrested two casual labourers after they forced a two-year-old boy to drink liquor besides molesting the child’s mother on Friday night.
The woman grew suspicious with her neighbours, Palani, (37) and Selvam (47), when she took the boy home from their unusual company. She learnt they had force-fed her son liquor and raked up the issue with them.
In retaliation, the duo, in an inebriated condition, barged into her house and hurled a volley of verbal abuses besides physically assaulting her. The destitute woman who had been living alone since her husband deserted her sought her father’s help.
They preferred a police complaint who picked up the duo. During interrogation, the two admitted to have forced liquor on the boy. “They maintained they did it only for fun,” said a police official. They were booked under sections 447 (criminal trespass), 294 b (use of obscene words), 354 (outraging the modesty of woman) IPC. They were produced before a city court which remanded them.
