Bengaluru schoolgirl goes missing!

She took the school bus from home on Wednesday, but didn't attend classes.

Bengaluru: A 13-year-old girl student of National Public School (NPS) in Rajajinagar has gone missing since Wednesday morning.

Poojitha M.K., an 8th standard student, is the girl who is missing. She is the daughter of Madhukirana S.K., who holds a senior position in a major IT company, and Padmini, a homemaker, who resides near Devaiah Park in Rajajinagar.

On Wednesday morning, Poojitha went to the school as usual in the school bus. She was last seen alighting from the bus, but she did not attend classes and has gone missing since. Her parents have filed a missing complaint with the Srirampura police, who have registered an FIR and are trying to trace the girl.

It is learnt that the girl had carried another pair of clothes in her schoolbag. When her mother asked her about it, Poojitha reportedly told her mother that she had to enact a skit at school. But enquiries made with the school later revealed that there was no skit or any such activity in the school.

Further, it is said that she had scored less marks in a mathematics test and was upset. But her parents say that cannot be the reason for her disappearance.

Manohar Iyer, a close friend of Madhukirana, told DC, "She was very attached to her parents and shared everything with them. We are clueless on the reason behind the incident. We have shared the information with all our friends on various groups and also appealed to the public to pass on any information if they come across about the girl.” Poojitha is 5 feet tall and speaks/writes/reads Kannada, English and Hindi.

She was wearing her school uniform - white shirt with brown stripes, brown skirt, black colour Adidas shoes, reddish maroon color jacket with letters 'NPS' embroidered on it on the left side - when she went missing. Also, she was carrying blacktop, black tights, white dupatta and she might have changed from her uniform to this dress. Her schoolbag was a red colour backpack of American Tourister brand, Mr Iyer said.

The police said that they were investigating into the case from all angles.

Why buses not dropping students inside schools?
School buses ferrying students should drop and pick them from inside the school premises. But, most of the school vehicles drop and pick the students outside the school, giving an advantage to miscreants. Also, lack of supervision on the students by attendants also leads to such incidents.
