Hyderabad: Seven held for adulterating milk

Accused milk vendor used to sell the adulterated milk in the market to gullible customers and earn profits which was hazardous to health.

Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Special Operation Team (SOT) raided a milk adulteration unit and apprehended seven people at Bibinagar on Friday who were involved in adulterating milk by mixing milk and detergent powder.

The SOT identified the accused as B. Shekar Reddy, 35, R. Pullaiah, 40, P. Narender, 30, R. Ramesh, 27, B. Kumar, 26, A. Rajgopal Reddy, 38, and P. Raju, 47.

The police seized 600 litres of adulterated milk, 2.5 kg of milk powder, detergent, washing powder packet, one Oxytocin bottle, two machines, three autorickshaws, two bikes and Rs 18,260 cash.

According to the police, “The milk vendor B. Shekar Reddy used to sell milk to other small vendors and was found mixing milk powder and washing powder into the milk for increasing the fat content. He was also injecting the cattle with Oxytocin for extra quantity of milk.”

He used to sell the adulterated milk in the market to gullible customers and earn profits which was hazardous to health and also causing serious health problems added the official.
