Telangana: Many held for protests on schools

A revamp of government schools will ensure that children attend the same.

Hyderabad: Members of the Telangana Save Education Society and other organisations were detained by the police while they were protesting against the decision by the state government to shut down government schools citing low enrollment.

Mr M. Ravinder, president of Telangana Progressive Teachers Forum says, “Shutting down schools is not an option. The lack of faculty members and poor infrastructure of government schools should be addressed. A revamp of government schools will ensure that children attend the same. We were peacefully raising our demands at Gun Park opposite Telangana Assembly when some of us were detained. We were allowed to go after four hours around 2 pm.”
