Telangana: IBM employee held for ganja possession

22-year-old claims the police has framed her in the case.

Hyderabad: An IBM employee Ektha Negi who was arrested for the possession of Ganja and later released on bail by the KPHB police, claimed that she had been framed. 22 year-old Negi who is working as Network Administrator in IBM says her career and life are at stake due to the case and because she had believed strangers who later became her flatmates. She refused the allegations that she used drugs.

Negi said, “I am a topper at Bhratiya Vidya-peeth in Pune and have worked hard to get into the top company. There is an FB page called Flats and Flatmates, Hyderabad Chapter where a post was put up. Two girls got in touch with me and bec-ame my flatmates. I came from night duty and was asleep and my roommate opened the door with a key. The police found a container with ganja and arre-sted me, one of my roommates and three boys who are friends.”

She said the police didn’t speak in English and made her sign on several documents. “Initially they didn’t allow me to call my parents. Later, I could only call my mother and father who are living in Mumbai. The police rel-eased my pictures which are being circulated on the internet. My company has served me a notice. Why are the police not arresting the drug peddlers and targeting only users?” The Malaysian Town-ship Association has now asked her to leave .

Police said she confessed that she took ganja on her birthday. “I was not given 41 Crpc notice prior to the arrest,” Negi added.
