Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested two serving army officers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, in Karwar under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA), after they were caught red handed, while accepting bribe from a civil contractor.
The CBI arrested a Garrison Engineer (an officer of the rank of Lt. The premier investigating agency caught the Lt Colonel while accepting 30 gold coins, weighing 15 grams, and the Assistant Garrison Engineer while accepting Rs 50,000 in cash from the complainant.
The two officers had allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 in the form of gold and cash as the first installment. Following the complaint the CBI had laid a trap and caught them red handed while accepting bribe. The arrested are being produced in the competent court.
