Hyderabad: Another piggery unit found
Hyderabad: Enforcement teams raided five piggery units at RK Puram on Thursday and seized pigs that were lined up for slaughter. A compounding fee was imposed on the raided units.
In a separate case, the owner of a chicken and fish stall was prosecuted for not possessing a GHMC trade licence and for running the trade unhygienically and throwing trade waste into the lake.
The Neredmet police imposed a fine of Rs 1,500 on each of the illegal units and directed the owners to shift the pigs within two days.
A day earlier, on Wednesday, 1,000 litres of oil prepared from pigs’ fat was confiscated. Police raided two units located below Ramakrishnapuram flyover and confiscated five drums of pig fat oil, each containing 200 litres. The units have been illegally operating in residential areas.
