Kochi: The Kochi city police on Tuesday nabbed an Udayamperoor native for attempting to hand over a packet to Ameerul Islam, the accused in Perumbavoor rape and murder case.
According to the police, Sunil Kumar of Udayamperoor tried to handover a packet of beedi to the accused at district court complex.
Ameerul was brought to the District Sessions court on Tuesday. The police sought to extend the remand period and the court permitted to extend the remand period till August 10. Cops found Assam native Sunil Kumar advancing towards Ameerul and detained him.
They found found four packets of beedi inside the packet. As he refused to reply to their queries, the cops took him to the police station for a detailed interrogation. The cops later let him off charging a petty case.
