Bengaluru: Former bank manager accused of fraud
BENGALURU: A manager of a private bank has accused his predecessor of fudging documents and misusing bank funds running into crores to help a city-based hotelier.
Praveen Kulkarni, the new branch manager of a private bank located at MM court complex branch on Nrupatunga Road, has filed a complaint against his predecessor Doreswamy at Halasuru police station.
He said Doreswamy was branch manager between April 2015 and December 2017 and misused his position and withdrew cash from the savings accounts of hundreds of customers and transferred the same to the account of his associate in the same branch.
Kulkarni stated that Doreswamy transferred the funds to the account of Raju Thomas, who who runs Coconut Grove restaurant on the Church Street. He in turn withdrew the amount using Demand Draft.
The former bank manager had manipulated the documents and forged the signature of the account holders to cover up his illegal transactions. Kulkarni told police that the fraud came to light when he was cross-checking some documents.
The Halasuru police have taken up a case under cheating, wrongful loss, fraud and criminal breach of trust and begun investigation.
Man poses as ex-IGP, arrested
A 52-year-old man, who posed himself as a retired IGP, has been arrested by the Tilaknagar police. The accused, Ramanand Sagar, had recently barged into the Jayanagar General Hospital and abused and threatened the woman deputy chief medical officer.
Based on a complaint by Ramadevi R., Deputy Chief Medical officer of Jayanagar General Hospital on April 27, the police had formed a special team and arrested him on Tuesday.
Ms Ramadevi had alleged in her complaint that he had barged into the casualty ward while she was treating a patient and started yelling at her around 10.30 pm on March 20. He also threatened her before leaving the hospital. After discussing the issue with her seniors, she filed a complaint with the Tilaknagar police.
He was absconding since then and the police after gathering information on him, arrested him on Tuesday.
He had founded an organisation called Bharath Yuvajana Sene and allegedly claimed that he was a retired senior police officer. He also wore the police uniform for events organized by the Sene, the police said.
