Moral policing back to haunt Mangaluru
Mangaluru: After a brief lull, moral policing has returned to haunt Mangaluru city. Two incidents, one at a mall and another at Car Street, were reported on Monday and complaints were filed on Tuesday.
However this time it was carried out by Muslim groups and not by saffron outfits.
Sources said that about 15 people assaulted man at a mall. They alleged that he had brushed against a Muslim girl and was attacked while coming out of the mall.
But they fled once the police appeared and the victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Mangaluru North police have registered a case of rioting and attempt to murder.
In the second incident on Car Street a Muslim engineering student and her lecturers were abused by three people.
The student had come to a stationery shop along with the lecturers. The gang began questioning as to why she was with them. However, they fled after seeing the police.
