Krishnagiri: Engineer-groom hospitalised after tiff with fiancée
Krishnagiri: An engineer-bridegroom was allegedly drugged and brutally beaten up by his fiancée, a college girl. The attack took place a day after their engagement.
Police said that C.Saravana (27), an engineering graduate and working in a private firm was admitted in the Uthangarai government hospital by local people who noticed him with bleeding injuries and lying unconscious at Chennappanaiyakanoor. Later, his relatives shifted Saravana to a private hospital at Salem, where he regained consciousness, a day after he was brutally beaten up on Saturday night.
He was attacked on the day of his engagement with his relative Jhansi (19). The function took place in Jhani’s house at Chennappanaiyakanoor. A phone call from Jhansi on Saturday night landed Saravana in trouble after he went to her house and drank a glass of juice before the couple went to the rear of the girl’s house. It is alleged that the girl drugged Saravanan and took him to where her associates waited for them in the dark. They brutally attacked him for reasons unknown and then abandoned him on the roadside, close to Jhansi’s house.
Uthangarai police, following a complaint given by Saravanan, registered a case and are probing to trace missing Jhansi and others involved in the attack.
