Hyderabad: Two groups smuggling ganja busted

Hyderabad: Three drug peddlers who were smuggling ganja from Visakhapatnam to Agra through train were intercepted and nabbed by the Railway Police on Monday. The police then seized 136 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 20.4 lakh from them.

The drug peddlers were travelling in the Rajdhani Express AC coach.

Based on specific inputs, the Government Railway Police raided the train when it reached Secunderabad station on Monday at around 10 am. The accused were identified as Ayush Gupta, 29, Rajesh Kumar 31, and Shaik Mujahid Ali, 19.

G. Ashok Kumar, superintendent of Railway Police, Secunderabad said, “They were travelling in A-1 coach of the Rajdhani Express from Visakhapatnam to Agra for selling the contraband to customers. They were apprehended at Secunderabad railway station along with four trolley bags five luggage bags containing 136 kg of ganja approximately worth of Rs 20.4 lakh.” The cops have registered a case under section 20(b) of NDPS act of RPS secunderabad and further investigation is underway.

In another case ganja was seized by the Medak excise enforcement team who nabbed a gang of five members who were smuggling ganja from Odisha to Bidar illegally. The cops seized 111 kg of contraband worth Rs 15 lakh.

KAB Sastry deputy commissioner Prohibition and Excise, Medak said, “Based on a tip, Medak enforcement division team intercepted two Swift Desire cars (registration numbers CG08 R 0999 and CG 04 KQ4939) and found 71 kg and 40 kg of ganja in the rear boot space of both the vehicles.”

The accused in the second case are identified as Lalu Ram Shanker, Subhash Chandra bose, Karan Kumar, Lalit Kumar Yadav and Khitish Mandal.
