Congress leader on run after molest' bid
The women's statement recorded on Saturday says Ramesh Nambiyath tried to rape her in his office in Chalappuram.
Kozhikode: A Congress leader's charge of extortion against a couple is likely to be rejected as the wife alleged he had tried to molest her in the absence of her husband. Police said DCC general secretary Ramesh Nambiyath was absconding after filing the complaint on Friday. The women's statement recorded on Saturday says the leader tried to rape her in his office in Chalappuram when they sought help for the husband’s treatment, after sending her husband to take a photostat copy. However, he returned soon to witness the attack and attacked the leader. However, Mr Nambiyath had claimed that he was a victim of political rivalry, for his involvement in a case against an institution closely linked to a CPM leader.
