Another Hyderabad woman held in Saudi Arabia

Saira Banu's mother alleged that her son-in-law has forcefully sent her daughter to Saudi.

HYDERABAD: A woman from Aliyabad, Shah Ali Banda, was allegedly enticed with a job promise to go to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia some time ago by her husband here, and she’s having a hard struggle there. The woman Saira Banu’s mother alleged that her son-in-law has forcefully sent her daughter to Saudi by promising her a job with a monthly salary of Rs 50,000, but is made to do menial jobs.

Banu Begum, the mother of Saira Banu, said, “My daughter is now stuck in a kafil’s house and is pleading with us to get her back from there. She is not allowed to call anyone, but she is managing to send text messages to us through whatsapp. She’s also sending us audio messages and it’s clearly audible she is in deep pain. She’s crying a lot while sending the audio messages.” Md. Moin, brother of Saira Banu, said, “My sister was married to Md Omer in 2014. She also has a two-year-old girl child. Now the girl is also with Omer and he’s also staying over here. He has conspired against my sister and sent her to Saudi by saying she can work there and they would soon become rich.” He added, “My sister is being made to do the household chores in the kafil’s house and they are not treating her properly. She is also being denied food and sleep. We have urged the external affairs ministry to help us get her back immediately.”

The inspector of Shah Ali Banda said that cops have not yet booked any case against Omer, the woman’s husband, and are investigating the matter. “If he is found to be guilty, we will book him and send him to jail,” the inspector said.
