Two murders in Chennai, 11 on run
Chennai: The city police are on the lookout for at least 11 persons who are suspected to have been involved in two murders that took place at nearly the same time on Thursday night across the city.
A common thread in both murders is that both the assailants were at loggerheads with the deceased for quite a while. In one case, the deceased was a history sheeter with various offences including extortion and also worked as a painter. The deceased was identified as Seenu aka ‘Karuppu’ Seenu (26), resident of JJ Nagar, Pulianthope.
According to witnesses, Vaseekaran (32) and three others hacked Seenu at around 9.30 pm and fled the scene. Seenu was rushed to Kilpauk Medical Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Vaseengaran, who is related to Seenu, runs a butcher shop in Vyasarpadi Aattuthotti.
In the other incident, Paraman, (30), resident of Bagawat Singh Street, Ambattur, a hawker who sells flowers in North Usman Road, was hacked by a gang.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Paraman had a longstanding rivalry with his relative Ayyanar who also sells flower. The rivalry was over occupying prime spots to set up shop.
Ayyanar and his son Murugan and their aides reportedly murdered Paraman near his shop on Thursday at around 9.30 pm and fled the scene.
