Hyderabad: Four men swindled over Rs 16 lakh from a government job aspirant offering him a backdoor entry without having to sit for the Telangana State Public Service Commission exam. The men had collected the money promising him the post of assistant motor vehicle inspector in Telangana state during last year’s recruitment drive.

The four were arrested by the police on Friday following a complaint by the victim and TSPSC officials. ‘ According to officials of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone, Mendyala Tirupathaiah (33), Sk. Yakub Ali (31), Mohammed Ali (51) and Mir Karrar (51), were arrested on charges of cheating.

The victim, Mr P. Srinivas Rao (30) from Kodur of Krishna District, had come to meet an ex-MLA at Jubilee Hills to request him to help him get a government job. The main accused, Thirupathaiah, met him there and offered to help and introduced him to his three friends.

“They convinced him that they were in touch with higher officials in TSPCS and demanded Rs 31 lakh for getting him the job. The victim paid Rs 10 lakh initially. But his name was not there in the first list of candidates.

The four then told him that the computer operator in TSPCS had to be paid more for manipulating the list. His name was not there in the second list too and the victim approached TSPSC officials and the police,” said an official from Commis-sioner’s Task Force.
