Hyderabad: Sunil Shetty arrested for 150 burglaries
Hyderabad: House burglar Mohammed Saleem, who was previously arrested 22 times for his involvement in a total of 150 burglary cases, has been arrested again.
The Commissioner's Task Force (South) team caught the man, who claims to be a die-hard fan of Bollywood star Sunil Shetty.
Announcing his arrest, Hyderabad Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that Saleem, alias Sunil Shetty, worked as a labourer during the day and at night, he used to commit burglaries. He targets middle class or lower middle class houses at late night.
“After arresting him, we could find out that he was involved in around 13 house breaking cases in Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates since January, the commissioner said. Gold ornaments weighing around 700 gm worth around Rs 21 lakh was recovered from his possession.
Saleem was released from the prison in January this year. "The man moves around with a cutting player and a small torch light at night and after scaling the compound wall, enters into houses by breaking the locks on the main doors," the Commissioner said.
He added that he plays ludo and cricket on his mobile phone before embarking on his assignments and targets mostly the southern areas of the city. "With the stolen property, he visits tourists places and enjoys helicopter rides too. Being a hard core fan of Bollywood hero Sunil Shetty, he has tried to pay the actor a visit at his house at Bandra, Mumbai, but failed to meet him.
